VEGA, a Polish manufacturer of nitrocellulose solutions for the defence industry, is presenting its portfolio at this year's International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO) in Kielce. At Stand 11-C09, the company is showcasing, among other solutions, products for artillery and mortar ammunition, including nitrocellulose combustible cases designed for 155 mm NATO-calibre propelling charges.
For nearly three decades, VEGA has been developing and manufacturing solutions for ammunition systems in Poland. The company has its own research and development capabilities, while its team includes engineers and specialists associated with Polish technical universities, including the Military University of Technology.
One of VEGA's key areas of activity is the production of Combustible Cartridge Cases used in propelling charges for mortar and artillery ammunition. The company applies proprietary technological solutions in both materials and manufacturing processes.
VEGA's combustible cases are characterised by high mechanical and environmental resistance, resistance to moisture, a very wide storage temperature range and high combustion quality. After firing, the case material undergoes virtually complete combustion, leaving minimal residues in the bore. The cases are also designed to support long-term ammunition storage, which is of key importance from a logistics perspective.
The 155 mm calibre, which is the NATO artillery standard, is currently of particular importance to the company's development. VEGA is developing combustible case technology for Modular Artillery Charge Systems (MACS) used in 155 mm systems. Research and development work is also being carried out in cooperation with the Military Institute of Armament Technology (WITU).

The development of technologies for 155 mm ammunition is part of the growing demand for production capabilities related to NATO artillery. For VEGA, it is also an element of the company's strategy to increase the share of Polish solutions in the domestic and international defence industry supply chain.
